The Big Tree as it is called is a very old Live Oak, and is the heart of the community, where residents tailgate in their golf carts regularly for a variety of community activities including annual bonfire, Christmas Carol Sing-A-Longs, children’s movies, Ceremonies for Memorial Day, July 4^th, 9/11, Veterans Day, annual Christmas Toy Parade and impromptu get-togethers.

The central Commercial area, in the center of the community has a number of commercial hangars and businesses, excellent restaurant, hair salon and more.

Runway was originally built during WW-II.  Original name of the community is “Fly-In” and one of the 5 original investor was William Slaughter, who then established Spruce Creek Fly-In Realty.
